Saskatchewan Sings at Optimist ChorFest Saskatchewan!

On February 8 – 12, 2014, the first Optimist ChorFest Saskatchewan was held in Regina at Knox Metropolitan United Church. A total of 18 choirs from Esterhazy, Moose Jaw, Regina, Rosthern and Saskatoon took part in the festival. The clinicians were Dr. Elroy Friesen of Winnipeg, MB, Dr. Mark Sirett of Kingston, ON, and Jordan Travis of Burlington, ON.  Dr. Dominic Gregorio of Regina, SK was also a clinician on Wednesday, February 12.

The festival was divided into performance & workshop “pods” that each consisted of 1 – 3 choirs. Choirs came for their scheduled pod and following a 15-minute warm-up, performed for 15 minutes for the clinicians and the other choirs in their pod. Following each performance, choirs received a 15-minute on stage adjudication from one of the clinicians.  Once each choir had performed and worked with a clinician on stage, they moved to separate areas to work more intensively with another clinician for 30 minutes. There were two pods for everyday of the festival except Wednesday (half day).  Thank you clinicians, participants, volunteers & sponsors for your help in making Optimist ChorFest Saskatchewan 2014 a success!
