Student Summer Works Program – 2013

 
The Saskatchewan Choral Federation is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the elevation and enhancement of choral music in Saskatchewan through education and awareness. Established in 1978, the SCF works to promote the art of choral music, encourage high standards of artistic attainment, maximize the number of singers and choirs in the province and grow and develop appreciative audiences. Significant funding for these activities is received from the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation with the assistance of SaskCulture and the Saskatchewan Arts Board.

Job Description – Library/Office/Research Assistant
  • General Reception Duties – In Person and via Phone
  • Staff Assistance
  • Assist with Programming Documentation
  • Membership Development
  • Assist with File Systems – including binding materials, scanning, paper & electronic files
  • Organizing and cataloguing SCF historical information
  • Developing a database to house electronic historical information
  • Inputting information into the SCF History Database.
  • Posting items to the SCF website
  • Organizing and cataloguing orchestral and band music for the SCF Library.
  • Inputting information into the SCF Library Database.
 
Skills, Abilities and Experience Required

Previous experience in an office setting is preferred, but not required. The successful candidate is dependable and highly organized, enthusiastic, with a positive attitude. The candidate will have working knowledge of MS Office, numeric and alphabetical filing and be planning to return to full-time studies in the fall. Great people skills are a must!

Work Requirements and Remuneration

The position is for 13 weeks from June 3 – August 30, 2013. The position is at the SCF office located at 1870 Lorne Street; Regina, SK. The work schedule is negotiable, however, our preference is 8:30- 12:00 and 1:00-4:30 Monday to Friday (35 hours per week). The rate of pay is $13.50 per hour. This position is open to all qualified candidates and First Nations and minority applicants are encouraged to apply.

Accessibility

The SCF Office is located on the second floor of a building that does not have an elevator. Access to the building generally, and the office, specifically, is limited. While we are happy to recruit persons with disabilities for these positions, successful candidates must have the ability to access the building.

The student will work directly with SCF staff; have access to all knowledge areas, programs and files of the staff. SCF staff recognizes that well-defined administrative skills are a benefit in any position and as such, is committed to providing the candidate with valuable experience by including the student in the real work of the SCF.
